COPING SKILLS NEW PERSPECTIVES BUILD TRUST PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT PROACTIVE SUPPORT
I have worked as a counsellor for over 8 years with a private practice in the Kingston, Surbiton and Twickenham areas seeing individuals, couples, children/young people and families. I also work as a supervisor supporting other counsellors/therapists.
After nurturing a TRUSTING, HONEST and helpful therapeutic relationship, our work will encourage understanding, self acceptance and self awareness. Our work will explore difficult feelings, UNHELPFUL BEHAVIOUR PATTERNS and DEVELOP NEW COPING SKILLS.
I support Individuals experiencing ANXIETY, DEPRESSION, RELATIONSHIP ISSUES, LOW SELF ESTEEM, LOSS, PANIC DISORDERS, ANGER AND ADDICTION. This includes childhood trauma and abuse, ASD and ADHD.
Our work together will be productive and supportive, EXPLORING problems within a NEUTRAL, UNBIASED therapeutic environment. We will challenge unhelpful behaviour, beliefs and patterns, exploring realistic expectations, and working towards REBUILDING TRUST, IMPROVED COMMUNICATION and INTIMACY.
My work with couples involves challenging relationship issues including COMMUNICATION ISSUES, ANGER, MISTRUST, infidelity, anxiety, and conflicting expectations. This includes family breakdown, fertility issues, addictions; substance misuse, gambling, pornography and
CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE
I have worked with children and young people / adolescents / teenagers for over 18 years within a therapeutic environment. I am highly skilled and experienced at BUILDING RAPPORT, forming TRUSTING, honest and helpful therapeutic relationships with children and young people. This is with the aim of developing their own exploration and growth, building self esteem and healthy relationships. This includes learning to MANAGE FEELINGS such as ANGER and ANXIETY.
The work focuses on LEARNING NEW COPING SKILLS, BUILDING EMOTIONAL RESILIENCE and SELF CARE.
The young people I have worked with have experienced anxiety, depression, low self esteem/ confidence, anger difficulties, eating disorders, self harm, bullying and behaviour difficulties.
This has included a wide range of complex emotional difficulties including abuse and trauma.
I support families to explore COMMUNICATION difficulties, CHALLENGING BEHAVIOUR, parenting styles and STRATEGIES working to build/rebuild emotional BONDS/CLOSENESS and improve family dynamics at home.
Difficulties may include ANGER, CONTROL and BOUNDARIES. We explore feelings and unhelpful behaviours that impact upon individuals and the family as a whole. We look at ways of becoming CLOSER and improving practical, NEGOTIATION SKILLS at home. I have trained in parenting skills and explore alternatives with parents such as improving communication, empathy and praise, realistic expectations and developing more
I work in a collaborative way exploring and developing your therapeutic style through reflection and support. We will explore how the work impacts you in regards to stress and self care. While using self reflection we will explore your skills and ability, bearing in mind effectiveness and accountability.
I have had a private counselling practice for over 8 years in Kingston, Surbiton, Twickenham and Kilburn. I have worked locally within social care, the NHS and national charities including The MS Society for over 18 years. I offer both short and long-term therapy within a holistic approach. Short term therapy can be 6-12 weeks solution focused CBT and longer term therapy which aims to explore a client's inner world at a deeper level.
Many years ago I hoped therapy would help me to explore some difficult issues and embark upon a journey of self acceptance. As my feelings and understanding of myself slowly changed I became more interested in therapeutic work and began training to become a therapist.
